I’M NOT OKAY WITH CHRIS BROWN PERFORMING AT THE GRAMMYS AND I’M NOT SURE WHY YOU ARE
Wow. This is why I have respect for Jay Z: he has never forgotten what Chris Brown did. He still refuses to applaud him, he still refuses to acknowledge him the same way he does others.
Urh, fuck everyone who defended this prick, villified Rihanna and just contributed to the mysogynist victim blaming that went around— and is still going around this whole mess.
To be honest I had not know the full extent of just how bad the reaction from Hollywood was because I had always mistakenly believe it was only a small group of unreasonable fans of his that would react in such a way, but now that I know what it was generally like, I am horrified.
The debacle with Usher - fuck, he had to apologise for saying that Chris Brown went too far?! This world is fucked up beyond belief. I can’t stand it one little bit; people gloss over it because it could be your sister, or your daughter, or even you.
To be honest though, I’m just fed up with attitude in the music business as a whole. Frankie Cocozza talking about shagging girls because they’re ‘easy’? Justin Bieber saying that women should never have an abortion and in the case of rape ‘everything happens for a reason’? One Direction being immature enough to rate their fans on a scale of 1-10, to their faces?
Yet teenage girls will fall for them every single time, because these boys are good looking.
No one should tolerate this sort of behaviour. Not men because these fuckers do give us a bad name and not women because no one deserves that.
And no, I do not think we should let celebrities off easier. If anything they should work harder to be forgived than anyone else because they are in the public eye, and are influential. They make this shit look acceptable and that is fucking wrong.
I agree with everything in this post.
